New Mail Notifier Supports Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, And POP3
DynAdvance has a Mail Notifier that works with Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, and POP3 email accounts, and even supports multiple Gmail accounts. Plus, it looks like Windows' Task Manager. Of course, it only runs in Windows, so users of other systems will have to do with other products. I'm off to test it out.

My hotmail account encountered errors when I first set it up. After I logged out of the .NET Passport, the issue was resolved.
No problems with Gmail or Yahoo.
