How To Submit Your Pages To Search Engines
Search Engine Guide has a great article on how to submit your site to engines. Its advice is surprising, but also on the mark, including that you should not use the "Submit URL" page, and that paid indexing is useless, with the exception of Overture Site Match, and even then only if you're deperate.
