More Stupid PageRank Articles

Remember the idiot company that sent out a press release for reaching the number one search result? Well now a company, Robotics Online, wrote this article, celebrating their new PageRank, which went from 5 to 7. Tell me this isn't going to become a trend...

Google™, the world’s leading search engine, recently raised its PageRank™ for Robotics Online from a solid ‘‘five’‘ to an even stronger ‘‘seven out of 10,’‘ one more reason to celebrate as the site’s publisher, Robotic Industries Association (RIA), commemorates its 30th anniversary.

‘‘According to Google’s own literature: ‘Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search.’ For our members, that means greater value from their links and content on Robotics Online,’‘ said Brian Huse, director, marketing and public relations, RIA.

Kill us all now, ack!

I found this page by searching for "Google robotics" on Google. I was trying to figure out why Google is interested in employees passionate about robotics (look at bottom of http://labs.google.com/) I read the Robotics Online press release before coming here because it was higher up. Anyone want to guess what direction Google is headed in regarding robotics?

This page:

seems to suggest it has something to do with remote webcam control.

Yeah, I'm dumbfounded as well :-)
